The BMC’s Gardens Department proposed the draft policy. Municipal Commissioner sent the BMC’s Development Plan (DP) department to study the proposal and seek their advice on implementation with the suggestions from the various builder associations.
The draft policy states that builders must ensure structural safety and leave enough working space to maintain the building while building the terrace/rooftop garden. The stability of the structure and the waterproofing should not be compromised. The terrace/rooftop garden should have an irrigation facility installed. The policy also mentions vertical gardens at construction sites to minimize noise pollution and improve air quality.
This comes as a welcoming change for most homeowners looking for 3 BHK, 4 BHK, and 5 BHK luxury sea-facing flats in south Mumbai. With the implementation of the new policy, the residents would benefit from the recreational space and help reduce the carbon footprint.
