How can the Mumbai Coastal Road enhance the lifestyle for those in Worli

In 2016, Mumbai saw a dream of the Coastal Road. A road that would reduce congestion and improve connectivity between the North and South of Mumbai.

2018 saw the start of the construction with phase 1 from B D Somani Chowk to the Worli side of Bandra Worli Sea Link. A total length of 10.58 km runs from Princess Street flyover to the southern terminus of Bandra Worli Sea Link. The Mumbai Coastal Road would have different crossroads to divert traffic and open green spaces, bike lanes, theatres, parks, playgrounds, and landscaping to make it a tourist attraction.

As per news reports on December 2022, the work has been in full swing, and the BMC decided to rev up all its engines and get to work right away after the Supreme Court lifted the stay on development work. Over 62% of the road construction and almost 90% of the tunnel’s mining has already been completed. The tunnel is been constructed between Priyadarshini park and Marine Drive using the country’s largest boring machine. The deadline of November 2023 will be met as per the expectations.
